APPLE IOS 15.4 UPDATE ADDS A CONTROVERSIAL ‘PREGNANT MAN’ EMOJI

Apple released a new iOS update Thursday. However, it caused controversy when Apple introduced an “unborn man” emoji to the iOS 15.4 beta. The “pregnant Emoji” is not new, they are part of an update to Emojipedia’s “encyclopedia emoji” Emojipedia in September 2021. The difference is that Apple’s “pregnant emoji” was released as part of iOS 15.4 beta. iOS 15.4 will be available to all iPhone users in the coming months. Apple’s controversial “pregnant woman” emoji is causing controversy. Some cultural commentators claim that Apple’s “pregnant woman” emoji erases the differences between women and men. Some even argue that this move dehumanizes females.

Emojipedia was also criticized last September for its first announcement of emojis for pregnant women and men. In a blog post, Emojipedia stated that the new Emoji could be used for trans women, non-bisexuals and women with short hair. It also suggested that it could be used for people who have just finished eating or those who have a large stomach.

The “pregnant woman” emoji does not mean that a man is pregnant. According to Healthline.com, trans men are those who were born female but are later identified as male and can have children. Although it is not clear how many American men are currently pregnant, figures from Australia show that at least 22 Australian men gave birth to children in 2018. Apple has yet to respond to a request for comment regarding the introduction of the “pregnant woman” emoji.

APPLE IOS 15.4 SUPPORTS THE UNLOCKING OF AN IPHONE WHILE WEARING A MASK

Apple’s iOS 15.4 beta introduces a new feature many users will love. Face ID can now be used while wearing a mask without the need for Apple Watch authentication. Users will have to scan their faces again to enable Face ID if they choose to use the feature during setup. Face ID can unlock an owner’s iPhone without the need to scan their face.

According to the official description, once you have upgraded to wearing a face ID mask, the boot will remind you if you use this function. Once the user has chosen to use it, the boot will ask him to enter his face ID again. It will now only record the features surrounding the eyes. The eye area will be the main focus of unlocking. To make it easier to identify the owner, you can also use glasses to enter their appearance. This is not possible with sunglasses.
