Google Africa Developer Scholarship Class V – Applications are now open

According to the 2021 Census, there are many opportunities for African software developers. Africa Developer Report according to Accenture and Google, there are many opportunities for African software developers. This is due to the growing startup industry and global demand for remote work.

Local businesses also contribute to this demand by hiring more developers to help them create a stronger online presence.

This report also examined how technology companies can increase access to these opportunities by providing education and training programs that improve job-readiness.

Google has been supporting African developers through training and community programs for more than 10 years.

There are currently more than 180 active communities of developers in Africa. These communities offer developers the chance to learn, connect and grow together.

Nearly one in every two developers in Africa have been trained or participated in community programs or Google developer trainings, according to research.

Mampho and Christopher, two software developers who are based in Johannesburg or Lagos respectively, have both graduated from the Google Africa Developer Scholarship program.

Both of them saw the opportunity online, and they decided to apply for the Google Cloud Learning track. After they completed the training, they took the Google Cloud Learning Track. Associate Cloud Engineer certification.

This has allowed them to be more productive at their jobs and opened up new opportunities. To quote Mampho, “The GADS program empowered me, and showed me that I could be a world-class developer”

We announce today additional training opportunities in Android and Google Cloud for aspiring developers in Africa.

We are pleased to be partnering with Andela and Pluralsight on this program for the 5th year in a row, continuing our commitment to Africa’s developer ecosystem. Program participants will have access to carefully curated training material and hands-on learning experiences.

They will also have access to a pan African network of peer learning group mentors and community mentors, who will assist them in their learning journey.
