Appwrite Raises $27M in Series A Funding

Appwrite, a Tel Aviv-based company that provides an open-source Backend-as-a-Service Platform (BaaS), platform for Web, Mobile, Flutter and Mobile applications, ‘The Founders’ raised $27M through Series A funding.

Bessemer Venture Partners and Flybridge Capital Partners participated in the round, as did Seedcamp.

The company plans on using the funds to grow its completely remote global team in all departments, with an emphasis on marketing and engineering, product development, and open-source support.

Appwritre, led by Eldad Fux (CEO), is an end-to–end Backend-as–a-Service platform (Baas), for Web, Mobile and Flutter applications. The self-hosted solution offers developers a set of REST APIs to manage their core backend needs, build secure applications and integrate them with user authentication & multiple sign-in methods. It also includes a database that can be used to store and query users, team data, file management, image manipulation, Cloud Functions, and other features.

App write, which has more than 150,000 developers worldwide and 550 maintainers, is one of the fastest growing open source platforms on GitHub. The company has added real-time capabilities and a native Software Development Kit for iOS and Android, as well as major upgrades to existing services, since its seed round.
