Bolt, an e-hailing app, has released its record-breaking South African trips for 2021 — including its longest ride of 261,74km.
R1318 was spent on the ride from Johannesburg, Gauteng, to Ermelo, Mpumalanga. It was also the most expensive trip this year.
Bolt’s data also revealed other records, including the largest tip to a driver as well as the most trips made by one person.
The platform also had records in the same categories, according to the company.
Bolt records for 2021
Uganda was the country with the longest journey on the platform. It covered 513km.
R184 was the highest tip given to a South African driver for driver tips. The largest tip was however in Kenya where the driver received an equivalent of R184 from a passenger.
The person who took the most rides in South Africa during the year took 908 trips to the platform. This is an average of more than two trips per day.
South Africa was close to holding the record in this instance. One other African user exceeded this number — a Nigerian user completed 923 trips.
The day and the location that saw the most trips in the year was 3/12/2009 in Johannesburg. It saw 270 000 trips.
