CamerEye is a San Diego-based developer of safety solutions for backyards and swimming pools. The company closed its last tranche of seed-round funding series, totaling $1.1m.

The round was led by major investors including members of San Diego Sports Innovators, several venture capitalists and many angel investors.

CamerEye was founded by Sai Reddy, the CEO. It focuses on pool safety and uses advanced AI technology. CamerEye’s AI safety system detects pool distress early by creating a virtual smart border around it using an AI overhead camera system. This system can detect differences between humans and animals and reduce false alarms from monitoring cameras.

The company will be focusing on its future in backyard safety and analytics. CamerEye holds three patents that leverage AI models to continuously improve over time. CamerEye will add four additional AI analytics capabilities in 2022. This will increase the value to existing customers and new customer groups.

Reddy was a competitive swimmer and holds a Ph.D. In AI and Data Sciences. He was also part of the founding team of PXiSE Energy Solutions. This subsidiary of Sempra Energy was recently acquired and renamed Yokogawa Corporation. Reddy decided to use his experience and knowledge in building AI technology to address the most pressing problem of water safety. Reddy and his team created and trained CamerEye for two years prior to launch with over 30+ beta installations.
