Cape Town creative school will host the Metaverse summit

The registration for the Cape Town-based summit has opened. It promises to celebrate the next frontier in the internet including the Metaverse. Organisers state that the hybrid event will also be held in conjunction with the launch and completion of a short course.

The event, officially known as “Creating meaning in the Metaverse”, is set to take place on Thursday, 21 July 2022 at the Salt River campus of the Red & Yellow Creative School of Business.

The Metaverse is a CHE-accredited private higher learning institution that describes it as the most interesting topic currently in the digital landscape. According to a media release, the world is entering an era of digital transformation that allows for collaboration within virtual spaces.

Brands are starting to find themselves playing in a new digital world, which has seen the birth of South African advertising campaigns such as the Volkswagen #GameOnVW and Honest Chocolate’s non-fungible token (NFT).

Glen Gillis (Managing Director of Sea Monster Entertainment) and Honoris United Education leaders will be conference keynote speakers. More speakers will be announced nearer the event. The Metaverse will explore creativity, design, and education.

Participants will also have the opportunity to experience a VR experience on campus. There will also be an NFT workshop, which will be part of the Metaverse designing course. This is one of the first online short courses that Red & Yellow are creating to continue to provide relevant and much-needed skills for the future.

Metaverse to change digital landscape

“We believe creative thinking is the most important skill of the future and this conference will inspire attendees to think out of the box and spark new ideas,” says Elizabeth Lee Ming, head of marketing at Red & Yellow.

“We pride ourselves on being the most creative, forward-thinking business school on the continent, an image which will be entrenched through the launch of this event and future events of this nature to come.”

The Metaverse summit also coincides with the fifth anniversary of the Honoris Network, which Red & Yellow Creative is a member of.

“In order to prepare for the changing digital landscape, it is important to be curious and continue to learn, grow and explore the world around us. It was therefore natural for us to launch the designing for Metaverse online short program. We want to equip learners with the skills to design for the future,” adds Lee Ming.

Tickets available now available for purchase on the Red & Yellow website. Every ticket holder will be given a goodie bag, refreshments, and access to the VR experience at campus. You can purchase a separate ticket for the NFT workshop. This is open to all attendees as well as anyone who is interested in this new technology.
