Cayaba Care raises $12M Series A Funding

Cayaba Care, a Philadelphia, PA-based maternity health startup, closed a $12m Series A funding round.

The round was led by Seae Ventures and Kapor Capital and includes new investors Wellington Partners, Citi Impact Fund and Rhia Ventures.

The company plans to use the funds for expansion in underserved areas, staff growth, market entry and further investment in technology solutions.

Founded in 2020 by Dr. Olan Soremekun, CEO, Cayaba Care is a maternal health company offering community-based clinical services via technology-enabled multidisciplinary care teams. It offers care coordination, benefit signing, routine maternity care during the prenatal and postpartum periods, mental health/counseling and breastfeeding support. In keeping with their local-first philosophy, the company partners up with Penn Medicine and Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, as well local organizations like high schools, churches, non-profits, and church groups to provide holistic, home-based services beyond what current services can offer.

  • A Maternity Navigator is a local, qualified person who can be contacted for any questions, assistance, or logistical needs.
  • The Maternity Navigator, along with patients, still receive support by a variety of OBGYNs, OBGYNs as well as lactation consultants, social workers, and behavioral health specialists.
  • Regular visits in-home or virtual to meet patients wherever they are. This removes the need for transportation and childcare costs and allows them to spend their time with loved ones.
