CcHub and Google select 9 startups to participate in the Rwandan fintech program

Co-Creation Hub (CcHub), in collaboration with Google, Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT and Innovation, and Mojaloop Foundation has announced the nine startups selected for the first Fintech Incubation Programme.

The Fintech Innovation Project, which includes the Fintech Incubation Programme as well as other development programmes is part of the ongoing efforts to make Rwanda a fintech hub in Africa. Mojaloop will be the national payments switch. The programme aligns with Rwanda’s ambition to drive inclusive economic development by leveraging technology.

These nine companies were all selected from Rwanda. KudiBooks software to pay and manage non-finance professionals. Food Bundles the digital technology is used by e-commerce platform i.e. a. d. to increase market connections for smallholder farmers and to meet growing demand for fresh food products. Quiqpay, a platform for contactless payments Bafana, which supports African artists and creatives by allowing them to share their work with the world and collecting payments. Uplus is a digital platform for group financing that allows people to efficiently raise money and savings with family, friends, or colleagues. 

The cohort is complete. PesaChoice the company offers short-term loans without collateral requirements. CentWise enables micro traders like street vendors and hawkers to have financial access through the creation of alternative collateral products. PayingTone, which is a marketplace that offers ecologically-trackable products and services on credit; Exuus the digital and inclusive wallet enables users to manage their spending and save.

CcHub will support the teams for the next three months to ensure product stability, scalability and market readiness. They will have access to mentorship from domain experts and industry professionals, as well as Mojaloop and Google products. The first cohort will culminate in a July demo day, during which the startups will present their ideas to investors via the CcHub syndicate.
