ClimateTrade, a Spanish-based, blockchain-enabled climate market, has raised EUR7m in Pre Series A funding.
Another EUR13 million is being raised by the company in a US-focused round. This round will close following ClimateTrade’s US reincorporation within the next five-month. The company plans to raise EUR20 million in international funding.
Spanish investment firm GED provided the EUR7 million via its VC fund Conexo Ventures. ClearSky is a US power and technology fund. Algorand and Borderless Capital are blockchain investors. SIX FinTech Ventures is the VC arm for SIX Group. Wayra is Spain’s open innovation hub. Omron Ventures and Zubi Capital are the investment arms of Japanese company Omron Ventures. Iker Macaide, founder of Flywire, has backed Zubi Capital.
ClimateTrade is headed by Francisco Benedito (CEO), and provides a marketplace for climate data and an API and Widget that allow companies to sell carbon-neutral products to customers. Cabify, Banco Santander and Telefonica are among the clients.
ClimateTrade US’s headquarters will be in Miami.
