Diamond Age, AZ-based robotics startup X, which automates new homes, has raised $50m Series A funding.
Prime Movers Lab was the leader of the round, with existing investors Alpaca VC (Dolby Family Ventures), Timber Grove Ventures (Timber Grove Ventures), and Gaingels. Signia Venture Partners joined them. The round also included 20% land developers and production home builders.
The company intends use the funds to scale its robotics platform further and to execute its first commercial contract for homes construction.
Diamond Age’s CEO and co-founder Jack Oslan leads the way in automating new home construction within the production housing market. Diamond Age has improved its automation platform through 3D printing, mechatronics and robotics technology. This allows a single-story home of 2,000 feet to be printed using the robotic tool set. Diamond Age delivered its first scaled version of its system as well as a full scale 3-bed, 2-bath house in 11 months – 4 months ahead of schedule. This led to the company’s first contract with a national homebuilder, which will be announced in the coming days.
