Dubai’s Emirates Airline Sets To Embrace Bitcoin, NFT And Metaverse

United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s leading flag carrier, Emirates Airline, is all set to dive into the digital asset space by leveraging cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and the metaverse.

The entry is part of its strategy “to connect with customers in a faster and more flexible way,” said the report.

Bitcoin, NFT and Metaverse: Accepting Bitcoin

Emirates will soon be introducing Bitcoin as a method of payment to begin its foray in the cryptocurrency market. NFT collectibles will be added to the company’s website for trading. The airliner, which is based in Dubai, stated that it will be adding NFT collectibles to its website for trading.

Adel Ahmed Al Redha, Chief Operating Officer, stated that the main purpose of the move is to develop applications to track various client requirements. The Chief Operating Officer explained that the airline will use blockchain technology to track aircraft.

“With the metaverse, you will be able to transform your whole processes — whether it is in operation, training, sales on the website, or complete experience — into a metaverse type application, but more importantly making it interactive.”

Advanced Tech:

This news comes just a month after Emirates said it planned to launch NFTs in the metaverse for customers and employees. Embracing the digital asset space is aligned with the UAE’s vision for the digital economy, the company previously explained.

In line with it, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive at Emirates Airline and Group, also asserted that the company had adopted advanced technologies to ramp up its business processes, improve customer offering, and upgrade the employees’ skills and experiences. He stated,

“We are excited about the opportunities in the digital space of the future and are committing a significant investment in financial and resourcing terms, to develop products and services using advanced technologies that will deliver on revenue, brand experience, and business efficiencies.”

It also stated that it will continue to work with industry partners to improve its Web3 strategy and to hire new talent for its future initiatives.
