Global Ventures led an $4.5 million round of funding for Carton last year

Orcas, an Egypt live-learning edtech, is looking to unlock digital learning capabilities for teachers and schools offline and online in Egypt, Egypt, and Pakistan (MENAP). CIRA’s NFX Ventures, Access Bridge Ventures co-led the pre-series-A round. The round also included Launch Africa Ventures and Algebra Ventures. Seedstars International and Cairo Angels Syndicate Fund were also involved.


Orcas provides a platform that allows parents and students to discover tutors and other hybrid courses through a discovery channel. This hybrid learning experience provides personalized learning plans, learning assessment, and practical assignments to learners in order to ensure that tutors can provide the best learning experiences.

Orcas CEO Hossam Taher stated in a press release that funding will be used to build the technology product, attract the best talent and expand into new MENAP regions.

This is the Cairo Angels Syndicate Fund’s first investment. It announced its first close in December 2021. The micro-venture syndicate fund invests at the early stages in startups with ticket sizes between $100,000 to $250,000 in Egypt, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. It also has investments in South Africa, South Africa, South Africa, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. The CEO of the Cairo Angels Syndicate Fund shared his thoughts in a press release . He said that Orcas’ performance thus far was very impressive and that they are certain to continue being market leaders with this latest investment.

Orcas was founded in 2019 by Hossam Taher and AmiraEl Gharib. It provides live 1-on-1 tutoring for K-12 students. Orcas is a low-cost, high-quality learning platform that supports parents in their child’s education. It offers flexible payment plans, discounted packages and instalment program.

Orcas platform provides self-paced learning environments to enhance the learning experience. These are offered by gamified, free question banks that can be mapped to different learning systems and student ages. The Orcas Education Department provides high-quality academic exercises for users. Orcas will open its doors in Lahore (Pakistan) in early 2022.
