$25M Series A funding was raised by Heartex, a San Francisco-based provider of open source data labeling platform Label Studio.

Redpoint Ventures led the round with participation from existing investors such as Swift Ventures, Bow Capital and Unusual Ventures. Redpoint Ventures managing director Satish Dharmaraj has joined the board.

The company intends to use the funds to further develop its flagship product – data labeling platform Label Studio – in areas such as labeling automation, bias detection and mitigation, and additional quality management and analytics capabilities.

Heartex is led by Michael Malyuk as CEO. The open-source data labeling platform Label Studio supports a wide variety of AI use cases such as NLP, Computer Vision and Audio. Its programmable interface allows customers to create custom workflows and customize the interface for each dataset. It boasts over 100,000 software installations and a large community (4,000+ members) of data-centric AI and ML and Data Science professionals.
To meet the demand of customers looking to scale their data-centric AI development and data labeling operations, Label Studio Enterprise was released in 2021. Heartex Label Studio Enterprise provides enhanced operational, quality management and reporting capabilities for organizations looking to scale up their AI and data science investments.
