Infinix has announced devices for its Infinix Note 12 series today. Unfortunately, those expecting 5G specs that are more on par with something from 2022, will be disappointed. The duo of smartphones, namely Infinix Note 12 VIP and Infinix Note 12 G96, come with the same MediaTek Helio G96 SoC. The chipset is relatively new, but in essence, it’s the same 12-nm Helio G90 platform from 2019, only with a few tweaks for higher refresh rates. Despite the lackluster processor, the devices still have other compelling specs like AMOLED screens and decent cameras, especially the Infinix Note 12 VIP.
This handset is undoubtedly the Infinix Note 12 VIP. The Infinix Note 12 VIP features a 10-bit touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate, the main camera with 108MP and a 108MP resolution. The 120 W fast charging is one of the most impressive features. Infinix has been playing around with 160W fast-charging options for some time. Unfortunately this product is still not available. Nevertheless, 120 W is a lot more than what many companies offer. This is a significant step towards 2022. The Infinix Note 12 G96 has a 50MP camera and 33 W fast charging. These devices are just the beginning. The company will soon introduce the Infinix Note 12 (and Infinix Note 12 turbo) later in the week.
INFINIX Note 12 VIP
Infinix Note 12 VIP features a 6.7 inch HD+ AMOLED 10-bit display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 100 per cent DCI-P3 coverage. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G96 SoC and Mali-G52 GPU. The handset comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB Internal Storage.
Infinix Note 12VIP comes with a third camera set-up for optics. The 108MP camera comes with a 13 MP ultrawide and 2 MP depth sensors. There is also a 16 MP selfie camera. It draws its power from a 4,500mAh battery. The phone also supports 120 W fast charging. The device can be fully charged in as little as 17 minutes with fast charging. The device is 7.89mm thick and weighs 198g. The phone also has a “monster gaming kit” that ensures better gaming optimization, a dual x-axis linear meter, 9 layer cooling system, a dual speaker with DTS, and Cayenne Grey and Force Black color.
NOTE 12 G96
Infinix Note 12 G96 comes with the same processor as the Note 12 G96. It has the same screen, up to 8 GB RAM and up to 256GB Internal Storage. It has a 50MP main camera with a secondary 2MP snapper. The phone also has a 16MP selfie camera. The phone is powered by a massive 5,000 mAh battery and 33 W fast charging. It features dual speakers and Android 11.6 XOS 10.6. That’s shocking, but the phone still runs Android 11.
Infinix Note 12 VIP retails for $300, while the Note 12 G96 retails at $200. I think these devices could have more appealing names. However, they will soon be available on select international markets. The Infinix Note 12 was launched last month alongside a few other devices. The company is also gearing up to introduce a new device in partnership with Marvel and Doctor Strange 2 movie.
