Lagos State will partially close Marina Bridge for repairs until April 2

Lagos State Government announced that the Marina Bridge will be partially closed from Monday 17 January 2022 to Saturday 2 April 2022 in order to perform emergency repairs.

This was revealed by Jubril Gat, a media aide to Lagos State government.

According to the government, the partial shutdown was necessary for routine maintenance work on the bridge infrastructure by the Federal Government.

What is the government saying

Dr. Oladeinde, the Commissioner for Transportation, stated that the partial shutdown was necessary to allow routine maintenance work on the bridge infrastructure by the Federal Government.

Temporary closure of the bridge in Apapa Outbound and Apapa Inbound sections. Both will be fixed between 17th January and 9th March 2022.

Alternative routes will be taken outbound Apapa. Motorists with lighter vehicles will be diverted towards Marine Beach by Mobil filling station. They will connect Ijora Bridge to Total Bridge.

Oladeinde revealed that the rehabilitation works would see inbound Apapa motorists, as well as diversion of traffic to allow for contraflow between Total Bridge (RRS) point and Total Bridge.

Nairametrics also reported the Lagos State Government had announced that traffic would be diverted from Dopemu Road in the Agege region of the state effective Friday, January 21, 20,22 for a 3 month period to allow for the rehabilitation and upgrading of Babajide Sanwo Olu road.
