Lemonada Media Raises $8M in Series A Funding

Lemonada Media, a Los Angeles-based podcast network that shows humanity unfiltered has raised $8m in Series B (second-round) funding.

The round was led by BDMI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of global media, services, and education company Bertelsmann. Participants included Madison Wells and Greycroft, Spring Point Partners LLC and Intuition Capital Group as well Wenda Millard (vice-chair of MediaLink) and Stephanie Hannon (CTO for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign as well Blue Collective, Lemonada’s leading seed investor).

In 2019, Jessica Cordova Kramer, Stephanie Wittels Wachs founded Lemonada. Lemonada is an open-source podcast network that shares the raw human experience. With a growing number of original podcasts and millions of monthly listeners, the company enters its third year.

Lemonada tripled their revenue in 2021 and added 10 new shows. It also designed and trademarked an Audio Reality Studio (BEING Studios). Kasey Barrett is a veteran of reality TV and created original shows such as Written off with Jay Ellis’ Black Bar Mitzvah and Believe She with Spiegel & Grau. These shows launched at the top podcast charts. After reaching No. 1, the network is now looking to expand internationally. The network has 1 shows in Europe, with In Giro con Fra and As me with Sinead (Ireland).
