Only the iPad Pros, which are newer models, feature mini LED displays. The LCD is still the standard for all Apple iPads, however, we know that some people might prefer the darker blacks and richer colors offered by OLED displays.
There may be good news for those who want this feature but don’t have the budget to buy an iPad Pro. According to ETnews Korea, LG Display is expanding their OLED plant in Korea. This expansion would enable them to produce OLED displays that could be used on the iPad.
This is the base model iPad, which Apple offers for those looking to upgrade their tablet. You shouldn’t be surprised to see the OLED iPad in the near future. However, it is possible that they will only make these OLED panels for the iPad for the 2023 and 2024 refresh.
For the foreseeable future, Apple may continue to use LCDs on its iPads. Only the Pro lineup will utilize mini LEDs. Although LCDs are not a problem and nobody has complained about the iPad’s display before Apple switched to mini LEDs, it would be nice to see it happen.
