Semi-seriously, we joke about the fact that Samsung is the king in Android updates. That’s a pretty common view when it comes to smartphones. What about Android TV-powered set-top boxes? NVIDIA is constantly updating its devices, so it’s not even close. Today’s news marks the 27th (!) update for NVIDIA’s SHIELD TV. Upgrade for the SHIELD TV. It’s pretty gosh darn impressive if you ask us.
NVIDIA has released the Experience 9.0 to all SHIELD TV models, even the original 2015. Upgrade 9.0 is code to Android 11. It brings with it an improved Gboard experience and additional permission controls. Also, support for aptX compatible headphones.
This update will be delivered to your mailbox shortly.
Google also offers six months of Peacock Premium for new US-based SHIELD TV owners at no extra cost. You can now binge-eat Yellowstone, The Office or some Parks and Rec! New SHIELD TV owners will need to “set up a new Google Account or log in to an existing one, subscribe through Peacock Premium banner under the For You or Apps tab and provide a valid method of payment.”
