OPPO PAD PASSES BY GEEKBENCH WITH SNAPDRAGON 870 SOC

With many companies entering this market, the market for Android tablets is on the rise. Realme made its debut in this segment last year with the RealmePad. Motorola made a comeback, and Nokia also launched a tablet that was affordable. More brands are expected to enter this category. As surprising as that might sound, Oppo is one of them. Oppo Pad, the former parent company of Realme, is set to join this segment. Despite their lack of originality, there are no comparisons between the two tablets. Oppo is targeting the flagship market with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. This is good news, considering that the segment of Android tablets has little “flagship appeal”, and Samsung has only recently launched flagships.

Today’s alleged Oppo Pad was verified by Geekbench 4 using model number OPD2021. The tablet was awarded impressive scores of 4,582 and 12,259 in single-core, respectively. These scores are impressive, but it is important to remember that they were based on Geekbench 4 standards. After the device has been run through Geekbench V5 sessions, the numbers will drop to a level that is comparable with other Snapdragon 870-powered devices.

Geekbench lists this chipset at 3.19GHz frequency. The powerful Adreno 650 GPU is under the hood of the SD870, which can handle all the Google Play Store features without any problems. It is also found in the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro. Vivo, Oppo’s sister business, is also working on a flagship tablet using the same SoC. The floodgates are open, and we will see many Snapdragon 870-powered tablets within the next few months.

Oppo Pad will have 6GB RAM. However, we can expect other versions. It is likely to have 128 GB of Internal Storage. It’s worth noting that the device is running Android 11, which is disappointing considering Android 12 availability. This could be a test model, however, without final software. ColorOS 12 will run on top.

OPPO PAD ALLEGED SPECIFICATIONS

According to rumors, the Oppo Pad would have an LCD panel. It will still have a 120 Hz refresh speed, despite not having an OLED. It will also include an 8 MP camera for video calls and selfies. The back has a 13MP camera. The tablet will be available in the first half 2022.
