Playbook Raised $18M for Series A Funding

$18M in Series B funding has been raised by Playbook, a San Francisco, CA-based company called.

Bain Capital Ventures was the leader of the round. Participants included Founders Fund and Abstract Ventures as well Hyphen Capital, Maple VC and Blank Ventures. Elad Gil also participated.

The company plans to use the funds for expansion and iteration of its business and to increase its global reach.

Playbook, which is led by Jessica Ko, is a cloud storage platform and sharing platform that allows freelancers and designers to share their files. Playbook uses modern technologies like image tag to photos and videos. It transforms an otherwise boring view of files into a Pinterest-like gallery. You can also use a variety of features that are designed specifically for designers. They focus on sharing and collaboration. A set of publishing tools lets users create a live shared page from a selection of assets using a variety of templates. Playbook uses its machine learning system to search for similar images, extract text and find image contents.

Playbook was launched in August 2021 stealth and has seen its monthly users increase from 1,000 early adopters in just a few short months to more than 50,000+. Playbook is used by branding teams at companies such Opendoor, Folx and Literati to share design files across departments with their clients.
