Pressto Raises $1.5M in Pre-Seed Funding

Pressto, a New York, and Halifax, Canada-based EdTech startup, raised $1.5M in Pre-Seed funding.

The round was led by Tidal Venture Partners with participation from Copper Wire Ventures as well as angels including Isa Watson, Wray Thorn, Dan Carroll, Ann Berry, Jacob Zachs, Chris Yeh and Alex Rappaport.

The company plans to use the funds for growth and expansion of operations, as well as to expand its business reach.

Led by Founder, Daniel Stedman, Pressto provides a proprietary technology platform that makes learning to write fun for kids. The SaaS platform’s proprietary tools teach educational skills, along with critical thinking and media literacy, helping kids to differentiate between fact and opinion, leaving young people less susceptible to the manipulations of social media and propaganda. Students get involved with the newspaper builder, while the educational skills help them learn. Cognitive behavior therapy helps students understand.

Pressto’s primary focus is engaging with schools as a supplemental tool that fits any curriculum and can be implemented across any subject area. This platform is part of a pilot program that the New York Department of Education has launched. It currently serves over 30,000 students across the city. Parents and children can also use it outside of school.
