Prismpop Raises $5M in Total Seed Capital


Seed funding of $5M was raised by Prismpop, a Pasadena-based company that makes fashion and other products for women.

Female Founders Fund was the lead investor. Other participants included Plum Ventures (Scout Fund), Mucker Capital and Uphonest Capital as well as Alumni Ventures Group, Sequoia Capital and Plug and Play. Unshackled Ventures was joined by Alumni Ventures Group and Sequoia Capital (Scout Fund), Plug & Play, and many others.

The funds will be used to help the company grow and expand its business reach.

Led by CEO Peggie Li, Prismpop is a female-oriented social shopping community focused on sharing insights about lifestyle products. It allows users to search for products, shopping advice and product reviews on their mobile devices and the internet.

Peggie Li is, a Bytedance (known for Tik Tok) alumni who established their North American presence as its first U.S. member. Before joining Bytedance, Peggie Li held various digital media leadership positions at Maker Studios, AwesomenessTV (acquired in Dreamworks), Leaf Group and Fox Networks.

She is joined by members of industry-leading apps such as Grindr and Tik Tok, as well as co-founder and head of content Maggie Knox, formerly of Awesomeness TV/NBCUniversal, a multi-channel network focused on female teenage content.

The company started as a Santa Monica-based Mucker Capital incubated company.
