Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon Confirm Snapdragon 8 Gen2
Many rumors surround the TSMC4 nm-based Snapdragon 8475 platform. When speaking with Verge recently, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano amon stated that the next-generation flagship processor is the Snapdragon 8 Gen2.
He explained that the purpose of removing the three-digit naming from the Snapdragon 8 series chips is to simplify the consumer’s perception. That is, consumers don’t need to identify or verify the size of the numbers but just need to know the generation. The Snapdragon 8 is synonymous with the flagship.
This means that the Snapdragon8 Gen2 in Chinese context is still the most recent generation of Snapdragon 8. It should not be called the second generation. Perhaps people will add the prefix 2022 models/2023 models to make it easier to differentiate.
Ammon reiterated that the products still to be announced include the PC processor developed by the acquired Nuvia team. It will be available for commercial purchase in 2022.
Ammon stated that the processor’s goal is to regain the performance advantage, while also being able to perform entertainment scenarios and can be used for business and enterprise needs. He didn’t specify what he meant, but he suggested that he was referring to professional scenarios such as music production, video editing, and photo post.
