Remio Raises $4.5M in Seed Funding

Seed funding of $4.5 million was raised by Remio, a virtual reality platform that allows remote collaboration and team building for global enterprise customers. It is based in San Francisco, CA.

Khosla Ventures was the leader of the round, with participation by Version One Ventures (The Venture Reality Fund) and Moai Capital.

The company plans on using the funds to expand the core platform that allows enterprise customers to create magical spaces, games, experiences, or other fun activities in an environment that is secure.

Remio was founded in 2020 by Jos van den Westhuizen, and Derrick van Schalkwyk. It offers a complete solution for remote team building using VR. It offers multiple team bonding activities such as Spaceship Escape Rooms, BarVR, and Paintball, in addition to all of the standard VR collaboration tools available in a company’s HQ, such as whiteboards, breakout rooms, and magical presentation rooms.

The platform has already innovated systems that allow highly interactive sessions for over 150 people in a single VR scene and have hosted multiple enterprise events with up to 300 people simultaneously socializing, playing games, and exploring their company’s metaverse.

The company has experienced organic growth and adoption due to the rise in hybrid work environments and the integration of VR technology into workspaces. This is thanks to several marquee clients such as Google, Netflix and Hubspot, Fidelity and Twilio.
