South African taxi operators have earned R3.3 million rewards through the SA Taxi Rewards, a minibus taxi rewards programme, JSE-listed Transaction Capital revealed on Wednesday.
SA Taxi, an independent minibus-taxi financier, launched the rewards program in April 2018. It was in collaboration with Taxi Choice (the commercial arm of SANTACO), and Taxi Choice. The SA Taxi Rewards program was previously called Black Elite.
The SA Taxi Rewards has 52 992 rewards cards.
The programme aims to leverage the minibus taxi industry’s purchasing power to negotiate better pricing to benefit minibus taxi operators, associations and ultimately the entire industry.
Initial programs offer rewards based on fuel consumption and tyre expenditure, regardless of whether the operator has been a SA Taxi customer. Additional rewards programs are being considered for parts procurement.
Transaction Capital announced Wednesday, that 15 000 fuel rewards cards had been issued to date.
Through its fuel program with Shell, the company pumped more than 16,000,000 litres of fuel into taxis during the 2022 financial years.
SA Taxi launched in October 2019 a tyre program with Bridgestone South Africa to supply tyres for Toyota minibus taxis.
The company has sold 44000 tyres over the course of the program.
The tyre has been designed to meet the stringent requirements of the Ses’fikile Toyota Quantum minibus taxis and the Original Auto Equipment Manufacturer requirements.
