Snowflake to Purchase Streamlit for Reportedly $800M

Snowflake (NYSE: SNOW), a Data Cloud company, acquired Streamlit, a framework built to simplify and accelerate the creation of data applications.

According to reports, the amount of the deal was $800m. Closing of this acquisition is subject to receipt of regulatory approvals as well as other customary closing conditions.

Adrien Treuille is the CEO and co-founder of Streamlit. Streamlit offers an open-source framework to enable developers and data scientists build and share data applications quickly and iteratively without needing to be an expert in front end development. Streamlit is already used by developers and data scientists for creating interactive data experiences and building data apps. Over 8M people have downloaded Streamlit and 1.5M applications were built with their framework. It is supported by Sequoia Ventures and Gradient Ventures.

These two companies together will allow developers to create apps using simplified data access, governance, and tools. Streamlit users will benefit from greater resources for continued innovation on Streamlit’s framework and easier access to trusted and secure data to power their data applications. Snowflake customers will be able to leverage Streamlit’s app development framework to further unlock data with the Snowflake Data Cloud.
