Spectrohm, a Mclean, VA-based company building inspection solutions for mail and packages, raised $2M in Seed funding.
The round was led by HCVC, with additional investment from Good Growth Capital, RavenTek, J. Hunt Holdings, Dragon Ventures, and Klein Venture Partners.
The funds will be used by the company to increase its growth, expand operations and broaden its business reach.
Spectrohm’s CEO Tim Cargol is responsible for patented next-generation technology. It combines radio-wave-based identification and software to create an autonomous security screening solution and threat identification solution. This can be used in applications such as customs inspection and mail screening.
Unlike x-ray-based technologies, Spectrohm’s patented radio wave system doesn’t use harmful ionizing radiation.
Initial inspections of international air cargo packages will be done at high speed to identify potential threats to flight safety as well as smuggled opioids and narcotics.
