    Start-ups from Nigeria and Ethiopia can apply for a program to ensure food security

    Feed the Future, the US government’s global hunger and food security project has opened applications for the EatSafe Innovation Challenge, which invites innovators to contribute their ideas for adapting and applying current food safety innovations in traditional marketplaces in Nigeria and Ethiopia. 

    Participants will receive national and global recognition, mentorship and technical training. They also have networking opportunities with leading industry figures, investors, researchers and academia. 

    The competition will take place from April to October. There will be national pitches in Nigeria, Ethiopia and Denmark. 

    Feed the Future, in partnership with the SUN Business Network and the Innovative Food System Portal, administers the EatSafe program. It is open to food safety-minded entrepreneurs and students as well as researchers and other innovators from Nigeria and Ethiopia. 

    Each country competition will determine four champions who will compete in the Global EatSafe Innovation Challenge Finals. 

    All applicants will be eligible to participate in the Global EatSafe Innovation Challenge in Denmark. The winner will receive $10,000.
