Supabase Raised $80 Million for Series B Funding


Supabase, a Pleasanton, Calif.-based open-source Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) company, raised $80 million in Series B funding.

The round, which brings total capital raised to $116m, was led by Felicis, with participation from existing investors Coatue and Lightspeed.

The company plans to use the funds for:

  • Continue to place emphasis on innovation
  • Double the size and experience of its team

Co-founded by Paul Copplestone and Ant Wilson, Supabase is building an open-source Database-as-a-Service platform to help developers build their applications without repeating the same tasks. Developers use it to manage their application’s database, authentication, storage, and edge functions.

The community has seen an increase of over 80,000 developers in recent months. There have been many signups from Fortune 500, cloud-native, and enterprise companies. Over 100,000 databases have been created and hosted databases have increased 1900% in just 12 months.

Supabase is a standout company from YC’s Summer 2020 class.
