ThriveAgric wins CEMEA Visa Everywhere Initiative 2020

ThriveAgric, a technology-driven start-up in agriculture, was named the winner at the Central Europe Middle East Africa (CEMEA-VEI) Visa Everywhere Initiative (VEI), a global competition for start and fintech companies and programs that promote innovation.

ThriveAgric will be awarded a monetary prize as well as a place in the CEMEA regional finals.
Global Finale to be held in Qatar in November 2022.

Carepay, another Nigerian fintech company, was also in the final five, and won the Audience Favourite Awards.

Over 1,300 people applied for the competition, with each one from different regions.

The fintech sector has seen significant growth in Nigeria. Nigeria received the most entries from Africa, Central Europe and the Middle East last year. This year, two local startups reached the finals, with ThriveAgric winning the title. Visa Everywhere Initiative

Visa Everywhere Initiative (open innovation program) is designed to help start-ups discover new markets.
This gives them the chance to show their groundbreaking solutions and opens up new opportunities.

In 2015, the program was launched in the United States. It quickly grew into a global program. More than 8,500 companies have participated in the program to date. They have raised more that $16 billion in funding.

Visa Everywhere Initiative is open for all start-ups offering innovative solutions to the problem.
The payments and commerce problems of tomorrow. It supports fintech and start-ups in two important ways.

These were the other finalists who competed in CEMEA Visa Everywhere Regional Finale

Qlub (United Arab Emirates) – a company that provides a payment solution for restaurants where customers can view, split and pay their bills by scanning a QR code. Other functionalities include ordering, data analytics, simplifying or digitizing the E2E dining experience.

Negabty (Egypt) – a platform that automates the services of syndicates and eases the connection with its members. Access to medical services as well key financial services can be accessed via the platform.

NQOODLET (Saudi Arabia) – a unified digital platform to help SMEs manage their expenses and purchases easily.
