Topography Health Raises $27.5M in Series A Funding

TopoHealth Secondary Ocean 1

Topography Health is a Los Angeles-based, full-stack clinical trial platform for community doctors. It has raised $21.5m Series A funding.

Bain Capital Ventures led the round, with participation by Andreessen Horowitz and One Medical founder Tom Lee, former Flatiron Health Chief Medical Officer Bobby Green and Zillow Cofounder Spencer Rascoff.

Topography was co-founded by Andrew Kirchner, Mac Parish, and Alexander Saint-Amand. It aims to increase access to clinical drug trial funding through a network of community doctors.

Topography provides a full-stack and white-glove service and product experience in clinical trials. It identifies, trains and supports community doctors in increasing their clinical research capabilities and scaling up clinical trials in their local communities. The company reduces the administrative and business management burden on physicians by helping medical practices understand their patients and recommend which studies will have the highest chance of being adopted and impact. It also recruits patients and manages and supports research staff. Topography’s digital workflow technology enables physicians to reduce friction and keep all their clinical data in one location. Topography’s data science platform analyses patient records to aid physicians in recommending and personalizing research for patients from diverse communities. Many of these patients may not have been able to participate in promising drug trials or were overlooked.

Topography is currently in beta and working with several community doctors. The initial focus will be on metabolic disease. It is currently recruiting community physicians to apply for investigator positions.
