Wandelbots Raises $84M in Series C Funding

Wandelbots, a Dresden-based robotic software company making industrial robots more accessible to everyone, has raised over $84m through Series C financing.

Insight Partners led the round, which also included existing investors 83North and Microsoft, Next47, Paua. Atlantic Labs, EQT, and Next47. Insight Partners Principal Philine Huizing will join the Wandelbots board in conjunction with the funding.

The funds will be used by the company to expand its Robotics Software Platform to third-party developers and solution providers.

The opening will enable developers to build their own robotics applications on top of a manufacturer-agnostic control plane. Wandelbots plans to also use the funding for its flagship teaching solution, which will support more robots and applications worldwide, expand its global footprint and accelerate hiring, as well as build go-to-market organizations in the US, Asia, and the US.

Wandelbots is used by many leading robot manufacturers as well as OT system integrators. Wandelbots are used by robots manufactured by Universal Robots & Yaskawa for customers such as BMW, VW and Schaeffler. The company also partners with European system integrators like Heidenbluth, Gibas and Sojka.

Christian Piechnick is CEO and co-founder of Wandelbots. He has created a solution for robot programming called ‘Wandelbots Teaching,’ and a unified platform that allows companies large and small to interact with robots in their shops.

Wandelbots are used to power robots manufactured by Universal Robots & Yaskawa for customers such as BMW, VW, Fraunhofer and Schaeffler. It has partnered up with top European OT system integrators such as Alumotion, Heidenbluth, Gibas and Sojka.

Wandelbots employs over 140 people today from 17 different countries.
