Werk Raises $1.3M in Pre-Seed Funding

Werk, a Tallinn, Estonia-based hiring and relocation platform for skilled migrant construction workers, raised $1.3M Pre-Seed funding.

The round was led by Change Ventures, with participation from Foundamental VC and angel investors Anthony Danon and Carmen Alfonso-Rico, Declan Kelly, Gonzalo Manrique, and Andreas Klinger.

The company intends use the funds to expand its team and to focus on product development as well as marketing.

Co-founded in Tallinn, Estonia in 2020 by Martin Kalamees (CEO), Marion Kallakas (COO), and Markus Tarn (CTO), Werk provides a platform that enables companies to hire skilled and vetted migrant construction workers, handling everything from recruitment, verification, and relocation.

Werk only works in partnership with companies that can guarantee workers the same payment terms, treatment, or protection conditions as if they were locally.
Contractors can input their skills on-site and the platform will match them with high-skilled workers that have been approved by industry professionals. Werk handles the HR and payroll once the worker has been hired.

The company has clients in Estonia, Finland Sweden, Denmark and Sweden.
